I'm Ron Moore with today's Bible Minute and a passage from Luke 4:3-4.
"The devil said to Jesus, 'If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.' Jesus answered, 'It is written: "Man does not live on bread alone."'"
The first temptation presented to our famished Lord was to turn stones into food. Turning stones into bread was something he could have done. But, as hungry as he was and as tempting as the offer was, Jesus didn't do it. His reasoning is very instructive: "Man does not live by bread alone" -- and Matthew adds -- "but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
What a lesson for us! We are tempted to trust in the thing supplied. Jesus reminds us to always trust in the One who supplies.
