Q&A with David
How does your marriage and family directly impact your ministry?
My family is my first level of ministry. My wife selflessly supports, teaches, and serves me and our children in countless ways. My children also affect the way I view life and ministry. Whether it's the reality of their physical adoption (two of my children are adopted) reminding me of God's spiritual adoption, or the ways in which I see God's work in their lives, the Lord uses them in my own pursuit of Him. Being a dad certainly produces humility and an awareness of my own need for God's wisdom and grace.
Is there a passage of scripture that has significantly shaped your view of God's desire to see all nations reached for the Gospel?
Psalm 67 has played a significant role in helping me and others see the purpose behind God's blessings in our lives. We should be leveraging those blessings to meet physical and spiritual needs among all the people groups on the planet, that they might know and enjoy Him.
What excites you about the partnership between Radical and Back to the Bible?
We share a common desire to see God's Word spread to as many people as possible. This partnership will open up new avenues for people all over the world hear the truths of Scripture. Both Radical and Back to the Bible want to serve and equip the church to carry out its mission.
What interests and hobbies do you have outside ministry?
Whenever anyone asks what I'm doing when I'm not work, I always point to my family. I love spending time with my wife, playing with my kids, coaching them in sports, or just having pizza night together. In the moments I'm alone, I deeply enjoy reading.
What two or three books, other than the Bible, would you recommend a follower of Christ read?
Knowing God, J.I. Packer
Desiring God, John Piper
The Master Plan of Evangelism, Robert Coleman
