Thank you for praying for my work on the research project and book the last few weeks. I can’t wait to share with you what I have been discovering about finishing well.
The big weekend of Daniel from Sight and Sound Theater is finally here! It premiered Friday evening with only a few showings remaining through tomorrow evening. I am proud and thankful for those of you who have stepped up in faith to prepare, pray and invite someone to attend.
What have you learned in these weeks about sharing your faith and being open for the Lord to use you in discipling someone? Please reply so I can hear all about it. Let’s keep praying for each other and the Daniel event. Here is how I have been praying this weekend:
Heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus. Help Him to be seen and understood through the Daniel event. Allow those who invited someone to be surprised at how fulfilling it is to step out in faith to share Your Son. Bless and encourage us all with more opportunities to reveal You to others and disciple. Amen.
Here is our final devotional from Sight and Sound Theater:
"HE SHUT THE MOUTH OF THE LIONS"
The Lion’s Den is arguably the lowest point in Daniel’s story. After King Darius is deceived into creating a law that states no one can pray or appeal to any man or god other than him for thirty days, Daniel makes the faithful choice. Daniel does not break his rhythm of gratitude or his posture of worship. He kneels at his window, faces the temple, and prays to the Lord. His jealous enemies see this and are delighted to report the crime to King Darius. King Darius loves Daniel and is grieved by this. However, he must keep the law. Daniel is sentenced to death by being thrown in the lion’s den. Darius’ departing words to him are, “I hope the god that you faithfully serve will deliver you.”
The scripture doesn’t follow Daniel into the den. It follows Darius. It tells us that he couldn’t sleep or eat and as soon as dawn broke, he ran to the entrance of the den and called for his friend. Daniel answered, “My God sent his Angel and he shut the mouths of the lions!”. God brought his kingdom into that den.
King Darius follows by delivering one of the most powerful sermons in the Bible, “For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”
This is the same hope we have available to us! The story of Daniel tells us that whether you’re in the den, on the mountain, in the fire, or right at home, He is with you. He is for you. Seek Him and you will find Him. Trust Him. Obey Him. Put your hope in Him. God loves you so much that if you call on Him, He will deliver you. He sent His one and only Son to die and be raised again for us. Jesus gave His life so we could have eternal life. So we could truly come home. He has plans for you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.
