Read Matthew 28:18-20
"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.' "
Reflect
How can you be a missionary at work, at school, at church?
Be a missionary and go confidently into your tiny part of the world, making disciples. Anna (see Luke 2) not only expected good things from God, but when the promise came to pass, she shared that hope with others around her. Bursting with joy, she didn't keep the marvelous news to herself. In fact, Anna became "the first female herald of the Incarnation to all who looked for the Redeemer in Jerusalem," a true missionary. We, too, have the opportunity to share the promise with those around us. And though some are called to other nations, you don't have to leave the country to share God's good news.
If you have encountered Christ, talk about His salvation and glory with others you meet as Anna and Simeon did. When you get up each day, say, "Lord, put those in my path who are looking for you, who want to know you--prodigals who have strayed away, lost sheep who need you. Help me to see my company as a mission field, my school as a place full of people with a God-shaped vacuum inside. Give me your gentle words to share the hope that is within me!" As we intercede for others and speak of the reality of Christ, perhaps we will be the witnesses when one of our loved ones or friends has the opportunity to look into the face of the Savior and see him for the very first time.
Pray
Lord Jesus, give me the boldness of Anna. Help me to go into the world and touch lives with the Good News. Amen.
