Read Proverbs 16:1-9
"To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue. All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The Lord works out everything for his own ends--even the wicked for a day of disaster. The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord a man avoids evil. When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him. Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice. In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps."
Reflect
• What can help you to "live a dream"?
Jesus said, "I have come that they may have abundant life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
Are you living the life that God has chosen for you? In the mist of responsibility and duty, we often suppress the desires of our heart. We have been created to live, love and praise our God. Through prayer and honest self-evaluation the desires of our heart will become clear. The pursuit of these God given desires will draw us closer to Him and help us to define who and whose we are.
Close your eyes and imagine three desires of your heart. Don't think about it or rationalize your wishes--just dream. Does your life, in any way, represent those dreams? Are the items on your list consistent? Do you identify a theme among your wishes? How do your dreams compare to those you had as a child? When is the last time you have asked God to help you clarify your dreams? Maybe today's the day to begin!
Pray
Lord. please reveal what Your "good, pleasing, and perfect will" for my life looks like (Romans 12:2). Guide my steps and give me greater dreams than I could ever imagine on my own. Amen.
