Righteous

Published 7/15/19

This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

Family Quest

Go online or flip open a book and find a picture of firefighters. Spend some time studying the images, especially the outfits of firefighters. Say something like this: “The Bible tells us that God is holy and pure. And His goodness is so good, it’s like a righteous fire that—on judgment day—will burn up everything that is evil and sinful.”

Talk It Out

· If we are sinners—and the Bible says we are—how can we be saved from what is to come? (Answer: Our faith in Jesus Christ.)

· As the firefighters are made fireproof by their suits, we can be protected through Jesus Christ. He wraps us in His love and holiness. Read Galatians 3:26–27. How does this make you feel?

· Now read Isaiah 64:6. Are we made righteous through good works? Nope. It happens through our faith in Jesus and our relationship with Him.

Parent-Child Connection

God has done the work for us. But we still have to accept it. People come into relationship with God for many different reasons. But once that partnership begins, His righteousness begins to change us from the inside out. This process brings us closer and closer to Him. Good works begin to flow out as our hearts are transformed by our Creator. It is His presence in our lives that makes us righteous.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for His love and (2) ask the Lord to build a “right heart” in each one of us.
