Read Isaiah 45:3
"I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name."
Reflect
• What's the key to following God's will?
Imagine receiving the "riches stored in secret places"! Does God tell you secrets? Has He ever whispered knowledge into your spiritual ear--a secret that gives you special wisdom about a situation?
Perhaps He has spoken to your heart to help you discern the truth or gain perspective about a relationship? Maybe His prompting has sensitized you to prepare for something that was about to happen. That is, so you wouldn't be caught off guard.
These are only a few of the ways in which God whispers secrets to us.
Has the Spirit ever revealed something funny to you? Often, into those who have "ears" to hear, He speaks a little private humor that only His understanding of a person or situation can bring. At times, He may call to our attention tiny tidbits of truth about ourselves that we keep very private--our silliness, our secret goofs. And with a childlike joy and amusement, He helps us laugh at ourselves in His Presence.
Private jokes with God--who would have thought?
So, what kind of person does God tell His secrets to? What kind of man or woman would God choose to reveal the hidden riches of secret places?
The kind of person studying this devotion. Actually--you.
Pray
Lord, help me to be obedient--regardless of how uncomfortable it may make me feel at first. Help me learn how to be obedient in the small things, and big decisions alike. Amen.
