Share Your Easter Story—It Could Change Lives

How do you hold onto Easter so tightly that it changes the way you live every single day?

Some of us Christ Followers wrestle with how to truly celebrate Easter—it’s like we’re trying to catch hold of something bigger than just a Sunday morning service. Then there are those of us who’ve learned how to carry Easter in our hearts year-round.

But how does that happen? How do you hold onto Easter so tightly that it changes the way you live every single day?

For me, it all came crashing into my life one night in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Years ago, as a brand-new believer, I had the chance to visit what’s believed to be Gethsemane, the place where Jesus prayed the night before His crucifixion. It was dark, quiet, almost eerie. My friend, “Border Patrol Paul,” explained how the garden sits at the base of the Mount of Olives, just outside Jerusalem’s city walls. He told me that some of the olive trees there are grown from the same roots that were around in Jesus’ time.

I stood there, staring at those ancient trees, and I couldn’t shake the thought of Jesus in that very place—pouring His heart out to God, crushed by sorrow, knowing what was about to happen. I thought about Him asking Peter, James, and John to stay awake and pray with Him. And then I thought about how they fell asleep.

And it hit me like a ton of bricks: I would have been asleep too.

I stood there, overwhelmed with the realization that I had spent so much of my life “spiritually asleep.” Jesus endured tremendous agony and even sweat drops of blood. And here I’d wasted decades not being fully awake to what He’d done for me.

But here’s the thing—it’s not about the years I missed. It’s about what I’m doing with the rest of my life.

And that’s why I’m reaching out to you.
