The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
Family Quest
Think of the strongest superheroes you can imagine. What makes them so great? Grab a towel from the bathroom, fasten it on your child’s shoulders, and then instruct him to act out the strength of a superhero. Take turns being superheroes!
Talk It Out
· What made your superhero so strong?
· Why does your favorite hero make you feel so safe?
· Read 1 Corinthians 1:25. God is smarter and stronger than the smartest and strongest man who ever lived. How does that make you feel?
Parent-Child Connection
Discuss the difference between being afraid and feeling fear. At times, they can be one and the same. But most of the time, temporary fear may be able to save us from an unsafe situation. Fear can be a good warning system. But you can’t live your entire life being afraid. Well you can, but you really don’t want to. And God doesn’t want you to. He is our mighty God and He wants what is best for us.
Talk to God
As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so big and mighty and (2) ask the Lord to help him appreciate what He has done for him.
